There is a plan for light rail along the waterfront, starting with this 42nd street line and heading south where it meets both rivers. A logical extension would be across 34th Street, to create a continuous 2-way Midtown loop, connecting important transportation terminals and other destinations.
This would be great for commuters taking the ferry! I also think this loop is a great idea, and that it should be free to encourage tourists to get around midtown without cars.

well, its nice, but what's behind it? Is there a plan for a light rail along the waterfront? That pier at 42nd st, I'm assuming.
